Visited Malaysia 2020 – The Unofficial Tourism Logo

What happens when you think a country’s tourism logo can be better? Do you join the netizens buzz on social media? Do you laugh over it at mamak sessions? Or do you do take action?

Apom (A Piece Of Malaysia) has made a name for itself by creating quirky statement designs about Malaysia, recently collaborated with local graphic designer Amelia Ong, who goes by the moniker UHMEALYA, to create the unofficial Visit Malaysia 2020 logo, but with a satirical twist, by making it read as “Visited Malaysia 2020”.

Amelia’s design entry for the Visit Malaysia 2020 logo competition was well received by the local graphic community online when she posted it because of the irony of how similar it was to the winning entry, displaying hornbills and hibiscuses. Unfortunately, the hard work ended there. That’s when Apom thought it would be great to give the design a new lease of life while also showcasing local talents in the county. And that’s when the UHMEALYA X Apom collab was born.
The UHMEALYA X Apom collection can be bought at Apom’s flagship stores in Bangsar Village and KLCC, as well as on the website www.apom.my. The collection consists of tees, mugs and tote bags with it priced at RM60, RM35 and RM35 respectively. Support local designers today!
