This artwork is a fun mix of Perak's traditional culture and today's chaotic energy. The guy's wearing a Baju Melayu Perak, the girl's in Baju Puteri Perak. You'll spot some of the iconic local stuff like labu sayong, gasing, nasi vanggey, even the Keris Perak. The floral border isn't just for decoration, it's actually Tekat Benang Emas, a classic Perak embroidery style. The headline "Certified Old Skool" is a cheeky nod to Ipoh being full of boomers (in a cool way). It's all about mixing that old kampung charm with a bit of modern-day sarcasm!

It’s the people, from the traders and migrants, from the colonialists - the Portuguese, the Dutch, the English - its the people who came and stayed in the state making it richer, more distinctive and ever more vibrant. With my illustration I hope to bring them to life with their distinctive costumes that they brought with them - and how they added the local traditions and cultures to their own.

Selangor, the most diverse state in Malaysia. A melting pot of cultures and people with a contrasting blend of urbanization and old charm. We have the most fashionable and stylish budak with the newest gadget and gizmos in the trendiest vintage-dessert-cafe shop.
But there is more to Selangor than just urbanization and trendy cafes. From a top-down view, Petaling sits at the centre — dense and developed. Around it are forested mountains teeming with wildlife, island villages, beaches, a busy shipping port, and sprawling paddy fields.

What’s the story behind the artwork?
In the small state of Perlis, where only eight people live, a traveler named Mat Jones discovers an ancient map revealing the location of a mysterious “Pelam Harum Manis” artifact. Along with the eight residents, he explores paddy fields, caves, lakes, rivers, and hills to find the artifact before it falls into enemy hands. In this journey full of humor and action, they show that despite being a small state, Perlis has exceptional strength in friendship and unity.
